After making granola bars a few times and experimenting, I created my version of protein granola bars!
Preheat Oven to 325 degrees farenheit (165 degrees celsius)
Lightly grease a 9 x 13 rectangular pan with vegetable oil or Pam. Their is already butter/margarine in the recipe so you do not need to use it to grease the pan, but again your choice.
This recipe I have omitted sugar and substituted extra honey for better consistancey, and added agave syrup. This is a great alternative for in between snacks, and if your looking to add extra protein in your diet. Hope you try it! Enjoy!
4 cups of oats
1 cup of whole wheat flour
5 scoops of Herbalife Personalized Protein Powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla extract
2/3 cup unsalted butter, or margarine, softened
1 cup honey
1/3 cup of: agave syrup, flaxseeds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, unsalted cashews and walnuts crushed, coconut flakes, raisans, pistachio nuts,
2 tbl wheat germ
1/2 cup dried papaya and pineapple
1/2 cup fresh or dried cranberries
1/2 cup unsweetened, dark chocolate (you can use semi-sweet also. Your choice)
1 banana, mashed
2 tbl peanut butter (unsalted low fat if you have it)
Mix all ingredients in a large bowl until well blended. Press the mix into the pan and bake for 18-22 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool for 10-15 minutes. Enjoy!
(If you want it less sweeter just honey or agave syrup. if you do not want to use either you can use dates to substitute for either one.)
